I feel like when we bought the house, one thing that seemed so daunting was the bookshelves. I wanted them to look pretty without being cluttered, reflect mine and Ryan's personalities (more mine than Ryan's---I can't exactly fill the shelves with fishing, hunting, and poker memorabilia), and I also wanted them to look like a collection---not everything bought at once. Well that last part is why this post is coming to you 9 months after we moved in. I had to collect! My friend/soul mate Wendi (long story---we have plans of growing old together in a ridiculously well decorated historic home while the boys tend to our farm-hence, soul mate) helped me style them a few months back and I've been adding and rearranging ever since. Here's a look at them...too cluttered? Not enough?
I LOVE this Snail...Ryan made fun of me two years ago when I bought it at Home Goods. I told Ryan that he needed a good home and now Ryan admits that he loves him too. The boat is from West Elm and we used them for centerpieces at our wedding. They were regularly $100 but went on clearance for $19.99. We bought 10 of them and because we bought them, our florist decorated them with succulents for free! We gave them away to our friends after the wedding in hopes they'll think of our wedding when they see their boat in their house!
I bought these seltzer bottles at a local antique shop called, a Classy Clutter. It's one of my fav spots to sift through and it's about a mile from my house. I paid $30 per bottle and at the time I thought that was quite steep. I later looked these up on eBay and they were selling for hundreds of dollars...score!!!
These two vases were my mother's. It seems that we both had an affinity for blues and aquas. I have so much of her things scattered about our home and most of it is blue, green, or aqua---I come by it honest! The picture is a snapshot that we got a passer-byer to take right after Ryan proposed under the oak tree. That's another feat that Wendi helped pull off...she does it all: bookshelves and helping coordinate engagements...haha!
I have no idea but I LOVE goats. They are just so cute. When Ryan showed me a video of the goats that fall over when you scare them---I vowed I'd own one one day. I will. I will.
I scored this vintage chair at Scott's Antique Market for a cool $120. The upholstery is in perfect condition and the chair dates back to the 30's. The pillow was a wedding gift that my talented cousin stitched for us---in my favorite color no less!
And I recently framed our first Christmas card...I think it's ok to leave it out for a while...it doesn't look too Christmasy does it?
